Fall Reception

The Jack Lisi Youth Award has been successful due to the support of many people and organizations.  Donations from the mail campaign and personal solicitations have been outstanding.  All, 100% of those funds go directly to the awards for the well-qualified recipients.  However, there are overhead expenses that need to be covered by a “separate means”.

In the early 90s, the Jack Lisi Youth Award Board of Directors initiated an Annual Golf Tournament that was quite successful.  Funds were raised to cover program costs like printing, insurance, accounting, postage, services, certificate frames, banquet meals for recipients, their families, and special guests and so forth.  Many volunteers add their assistance to the award.

The Board of Director’s decision was to switch to a different format to raise the needed program support funds.  In 2007, the Fall Reception was instituted.  Each year since this successful event has achieved its goal.

In the Fall, usually the 4th Thursday in October, a reception is held at the Greater Southern Tier BOCES Coopers Plains NY Campus.  Special and unique refreshments are prepared/served by the Culinary Students.  There is no charge to attend the event but we do ask for a donation.  Again, these funds are applied toward overhead expenses.  If there is a surplus it would be applied to the Trust Fund.

The evening starts at 6:30 P.M. and typically concludes by 8:00 P.M.  About 7:00, there are brief comments by a community leader and the Master of Ceremonies.  The total donation amount (pledged/actual) at this event is also announced.

Again it is the donor’s generosity that makes it all work.  Award winners and their families are able to be ‘special banquet guests’ due to donors' generous gifts!
